Codified is developing a data-governance platform that lets organizations author policies in natural language, declarative syntax, or via a UI and then codifies those policies into implementations across applications. The product supports conditional rules — for example, requiring recent security training (within 365 days) or membership in a sensitive project — to determine data access rather than relying on brittle group memberships. That approach aims to make policies easier to change and less vulnerable when people move roles. The company is still in development and is working with several design partners to refine the product. Codified has a small team of five full-time employees plus about six contractors. The company announced a $4 million seed round and hopes to ship a release candidate later this year.
