Cognigo builds an AI- and machine-learning-driven data protection platform that uses pre-trained language models for data classification to help enterprises protect critical data and prevent personally identifiable information from leaking. Its models are trained to detect document categories such as payslips, patents, NDAs and contracts, and organizations can supply their own data samples to further train and customize the models. The company says the system requires minimal human intervention—only a single day for systems configuration—and can operate largely without hands-on management thereafter. Cognigo positions the product to help customers achieve GDPR compliance in days instead of months. The startup announced an $8.5 million Series A and plans to use the proceeds to expand R&D, marketing, and sales teams to grow market presence and product awareness.
