Overview
ConXtech offers ConX®, a Chassis Based Modular™ structural steel framing system that factory-produces moment connections which are Lowered & Locked™ together on site, eliminating field welding. The system is sold as a chassis-based modular structural solution that the company says can accelerate delivery of a structural frame by 2X–5X versus conventional methods. ConXtech’s product is Cradle to Cradle Certified (CM) and is positioned for use across industrial, high-density residential, commercial, healthcare, data center and other applications. Over the past ten years the company has delivered nearly 10 million square feet of structure into a variety of vertical markets. Led by CEO/CTO Robert J. Simmons, the privately held company plans to use new capital to expand the reach of ConX, build additional fulfillment capacity, and grow into new geographies and vertical markets. ConXtech makes a steel-frame building system that it says speeds construction while producing stronger, safer buildings. Its ConXFrame system assembles by lowering ConXBeams into ConXColumns from the top down, with connectors that lock instantly to create stable connections. Final assembly uses high-strength bolts and custom washers filled with fluorescent orange silicon gel that squirts when the pre-load reaches the desired tension, and a hydraulic torque wrench is used to tighten the bolts. Because ConXFrame endures severe lateral loads, the system typically requires no shear walls, cross bracing or other conventional structural support up to seven floors, even in the highest seismic zones. The system can be placed on a concrete podium with parking or mixed use below and generally does not require alignment of the ConX structure's load path with the podium's shear walls or columns. The company recently raised $7.1 million as part of an $8 million second round led by Columbus Nova Partners.
