Overview
Coratia Technologies is a deep-tech company that designs and manufactures advanced Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) such as Jalasimha, Jaladuta, Oceanus and Navya. Incubated at NIT Rourkela by founders Debendra Pradhan and Biswajit Swain, the firm targets dual-use markets that span critical naval missions and commercial infrastructure inspections. Its technology was recently validated through a ₹66 crore contract from the Indian Navy for the UWROV Jalasimha, underscoring its strategic relevance to India’s “Make in India” and iDEX programs. Previous domestic customers include Indian Railways and IOCL Paradip, and the company has begun demonstrating its systems internationally, including in Brunei Darussalam for subsea energy infrastructure inspections. To date, Coratia has attracted more than ₹22 crore in venture funding, including over ₹17 crore from MGF Kavachh and Pontaq Ventures in July 2025 and a new ₹5 crore round led by Piper Serica Angel Fund. The fresh capital will be directed toward expanding R&D, scaling manufacturing to meet naval and commercial demand, and building a global export-oriented supply-chain. Management aims to position the company as a cornerstone of India’s emerging blue-economy while maintaining a strong technological moat in underwater robotics.
