Corephotonics develops dual-camera technologies for smartphones that combine two image sensors to improve image quality, enable optical stills zoom up to 3x and video zoom up to 8x, perform well in low light, and create bokeh effects. The company plans to use the new funding to further develop its smartphone cameras and expand product penetration. It also aims to grow into the automotive, drone, surveillance, and action camera markets. Founded in 2012 and based in Tel Aviv, Corephotonics has about 50 employees and intends to recruit dozens more engineers for its headquarters and support/integration engineering teams in China and South Korea. Financially, the company has raised more than $50M to date, including the recent $15M round.
