Overview
CRISPR QC has developed what it describes as the world’s first platform to precisely analyze the quality of the CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing system. The platform standardizes measurements for efficiency and accuracy, enabling pharmaceutical and agriculture companies to quickly screen for the best therapeutics to develop into next-generation personalized medicines. The company is San Diego-based and has opened an office in Scottsdale to tap expertise and talent in Arizona's semiconductor and medical device industries. CRISPR QC closed a $10 million financing led by Xcellerant Ventures. Xcellerant will support the company with strategic decisions as a board member and assist commercialization plans. Management said it engaged with several venture funds before selecting Xcellerant as the lead investor for the Series A. CRISPR QC’s core product is a CRISPR Analytics Platform built on its proprietary CRISPR-Chip, which is uniquely capable of directly measuring CRISPR activity. The platform provides new dimensions of data and analytics intended to accelerate CRISPR product development and to optimize and de-risk gene editing outcomes. Early customers have demonstrated that the platform brings valuable insights throughout the editing process. The company said it will invest its recent seed funding to advance commercial development and further enhance its data analytics capabilities. CRISPR QC positions its platform to empower scientists, researchers, and doctors to achieve safer, more efficacious gene editing outcomes that can support therapies and non-GMO crops. The announcement was released from San Diego.
