Cromai developed an AI platform that reads drone images to identify weeds, classify species, and generate files for precision spraying that integrate with tractors and machinery. The company reports average reductions of 65% in herbicide and water use and claims up to R$150 of return per hectare for growers. Cromai launched its first product for sugarcane, recently expanded the same solution to soy, and is planning moves into cotton and corn. It also offers an in‑factory IA sensor for detecting vegetal impurities, already installed in 45 mills with a 2024 target of about 100 sensors. The startup operates in 10 Brazilian states, is present in nine of the ten largest sugar groups, and has a team of 170 people. Cromai expects to reach breakeven this year and projects revenue of R$50 million in 2025. Cromai develops AI and computer-vision solutions for agriculture, supplying software, mobile apps and sensors that embed proprietary algorithms trained on millions of plant images. Its products provide real-time diagnostics on plant physiology, nutritional status, canopy cover, plant stand, leaf temperature, weed identification and fruit maturity. The company has been developing the joint AI project with its new investor for three harvests and plans staged rollouts: availability for coffee in 2022 and launches for sugarcane and major row crops (soy, corn, cotton) from 2023. Cromai reports accelerated commercial growth in sugarcane adoption, rising from 1 mill in 2019 to 6 in 2020 and 10 in Q2 2021, and aims to reach 40 mills within two years following the partnership. The firm intends to use the investment to expand its team and to develop and refine its product portfolio and technologies.
