Crowded.com is a mobile-first candidate network for hourly and on-demand workers where users can maintain an employment profile, get verified, engage in training and assessments, explore potential career paths, and get matched to hourly jobs and on-demand gigs. Led by CEO Howard Schwartz, the company was in private beta with 50,000 workers and hosted hundreds of workers at meetups at its company headquarters. On June 28, 2016, Crowded.com closed a $3.3M seed funding round. The round was led by Tokalon Ventures, with participation from ARC Angel Fund, EarlyStage.nyc Fund, Gambit Ventures and angel investors including Joseph Saviano. The company intends to use the funds to further develop its technology, accelerate expansion of its worker network and increase staff headcount. The financing supports the company’s plans to grow its network and staffing as it develops its platform.
