Cubii is a Chicago-based maker of an under-desk elliptical trainer that first gained traction on Kickstarter. The campaign raised nearly $300,000 against an $80,000 goal and the device has been purchased by more than 3,000 people. The company sells primarily online through its website and Kickstarter but plans a B2B push to sell units in bulk to offices. Cubii intends to use new funding to keep up with product demand and increase marketing efforts. CEO Arnav Dalmia says the startup is generating enough sales to keep the business alive and does not plan another round in the near term. The company is positioning itself to convert its crowdfunding success into a sustainable operational business.
