Cyted

Ground Floor Building 3 Old Swiss, 149 Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB1 7BX, United Kingdom

Overview

Cyted Health offers a diagnostics platform built around EndoSign®, an FDA 510(k)-cleared device for minimally invasive collection of esophageal cells combined with advanced biomarker molecular testing. The company has completed over 35,000 tests across the UK’s National Health Service and has a portfolio of peer-reviewed publications demonstrating patient acceptability and clinical impact. Cyted was founded by experts at the University of Cambridge and is developing additional advanced diagnostic tests for pre-cancerous, cancerous, and inflammatory esophageal conditions. Management has expanded a Clinical Advisory Board of gastroenterology and oncology leaders to guide product development and clinical strategy. Near-term plans focus on consolidating commercial success in the UK, expanding the diagnostics portfolio, and accelerating commercial expansion in the US. Cyted was founded in 2020 by Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald OBE and Dr Marcel Gehrung and is based in Cambridge. Its diagnostic platform pairs a non-invasive test with data-driven biomarkers to enable earlier detection and risk stratification of cancers and inflammatory diseases, with an initial application in oesophageal cancer. The company's primary aim is to provide early-detection tests for oesophageal cancer to NHS patients in primary and community care settings. Cyted has delivered over 15,000 tests across more than 80 UK sites and has been rolling out community and primary-care testing since August 2022. It plans to use new funding to expand operations in existing markets, enter the US market, and further develop R&D programmes focused on gastrointestinal cancers and diseases. The recent financing and public-sector grants underline clinical traction and support for wider NHS deployment.
