Cytox is a UK diagnostics company developing blood-based assays and prognostic biomarkers tied to mTOR pathway dysfunction for early risk assessment and prediction of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The company has exclusive rights to cell cycle–related biomarker discoveries by its scientific founder and is advancing those findings through clinical evaluation. Cytox is running two clinical programmes in the European Union and North America and recently began an extensive evaluation programme for its mTOR pathway biomarker technology. It operates state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in Manchester and has a partnership with US-based Selah Genomics to support testing and development. Management says the new funding will extend its clinical research programme, help secure potential utility claims, and enable partnerships with academia and pharmaceutical companies to support drug-development efforts. Financially, Cytox has raised multiple rounds totaling in excess of £5M in the past 15 months.
