D-Eye, founded in 2014 and based in Padua, Italy, designs and manufactures mobile sensing and examination devices and companion applications for health screenings. Its first product is the D-EYE Portable Retinal Imaging System, which focuses on eye care. The company also develops and operates a cloud-based system enabling telehealth applications and aggregates and analyzes screening data to inform individual conditions and population trends. D-Eye has offices in Pasadena and Boston and says its device has been acquired by over 1,000 physicians globally. Led by CEO Richard Sill and founded by ophthalmologist Andrea Russo, the company plans to use the new funding to finalize and launch its cloud technology and complete its offering. The round reflects early-stage financing to expand the company's device, app and cloud offering.
