DataDome

76 Greene Street, 4th Floor, New York, 10012, United States

Overview

DataDome provides real-time, per-request bot detection and mitigation for websites, mobile apps and APIs using machine learning, device fingerprinting, behavioral analysis and vulnerability scanning rules. The platform analyzes each traffic request anew and processes more than 3 trillion data signals every day to identify and block malicious bots. Recent product work has focused on a CAPTCHA product and new AI models to stop CAPTCHA-solving bots and CAPTCHA farms, along with improved analytics and reporting tools. The company says it protects over 400,000 domains for more than 4,800 active users and serves over 300 customers across e-commerce, media, travel, ticketing, healthcare and the public sector. DataDome reported that revenue doubled from October 2021, and it positions its solution as an upgrade for CDN/WAF users, bot specialists, and in-house teams. Founded in 2015, the team emphasizes continued R&D and commercial rollout as priorities following the new financing. DataDome offers an AI- and machine-learning-driven SaaS platform that detects and blocks bot-driven fraud in real time across web, mobile and API traffic. Its detection engine processes more than a trillion pieces of data daily from 25 worldwide points of presence to stop web scraping, account takeover, Layer-7 DDoS and payment fraud. The product is sold with enterprise professional services and dedicated bot Security Operations Centers, and easily integrates with major cloud providers and CDNs (AWS, Fastly, Cloudflare, Salesforce Commerce Cloud) to be activated at the edge. DataDome targets DevSecOps teams and large digital commerce customers, citing clients such as Axel Springer, AngelList Talent, Australia Post, carsales.com and Foot Locker. The company says the $35M Series B will be used to scale global sales, marketing, delivery and R&D teams as it aims to double its ARR and customer base, with more than 50% of that growth expected from the U.S. market. It also cites a 47% increase in bot fraud attacks over the prior six months, underscoring demand for its solution. DataDome is a Paris-based SaaS cybersecurity company founded in 2015 by Fabien Grenier and Benjamin Fabre that protects websites and APIs from bot traffic. Its proprietary SaaS technology detects and filters bot traffic, maps thousands of bot operators, and offers real-time tools for managing bot activity. The company says bot traffic underlies major online security threats including content theft, account takeover, marketing fraud, and denial of service. Clients and partners include PriceMinister, PagesJaunes, BlaBlaCar, Le Parisien and Amazon Web Services. DataDome raised €2.5m in a second funding round, following a €1m round in December 2016. Backers in the round included ISAI and 50 Partners, and Jean-David Chamboredon of ISAI joined the board alongside the founders. The company intends to use the funds to continue R&D and to develop its sales and marketing operations.
