Decagon

7 Asajon Eti-osa Way, Sangotedo, Lagos, 234001, Nigeria

Overview

Founded in 2018, Decagon operates a six-month software-engineering program that selects candidates strictly on merit and finances their tuition through an income-sharing model or a bank-backed loan. The roughly ₦2 million (~$4,000) tuition can be covered up-front by students or via a Pay-After-Learning plan that bundles laptops, accommodation, internet, meals and a stipend, with repayment of ₦3 million (~$6,000) over three years after employment. Demand for the program is enormous—more than 80,000 applications—but only 440 candidates (0.55%) have been accepted to date. Decagon boasts a 100 % job-placement rate for graduates, a 100 % loan-repayment record, and a 410 % average post-training salary increase. The company positions itself at the intersection of edtech, fintech and the future of work, tackling the global under-representation of Black tech talent starting with Nigeria. It plans to use new capital to scale cohort sizes, expand remote job placements, and raise female participation from 25 % to 50 % over the next three years. Management claims Decagon is already profitable and growing revenue at roughly 500 % per year.
