Deep Planet builds AI tools for viticulture that combine satellite imagery and machine learning to provide winemakers with prediction and monitoring capabilities. Its prediction SaaS platform—branded VineSignal—helps users accurately predict yields, inform optimal harvest timing, and guide decisions on soil health, disease control, irrigation and nutrient management. The platform is presented as a cost-effective, highly accurate alternative to traditional methods and aims to improve grape quality and yield resilience amid climate change. Deep Planet is also developing a 'SoilSignal' service to help project developers, farmers and businesses measure, report and verify the impact of regenerative farming. The company says the technology supports both sustainable production and profitability for vineyards. A £680,000 fundraise announced in January 2024 will fund scaling in France, the USA, Spain, Italy and South America and further product development. Deep Planet uses satellite data and machine learning to detect crop stress, methane leaks and to monitor water assets for businesses and policy makers. The company applies its technology in agriculture—working in Australia with grape farmers to identify plant stress, measure soil moisture and predict crop yields. It then recommends operational solutions, such as irrigation changes, to reduce costs, manage extreme weather and improve food and water sustainability. Deep Planet says these measures can boost food security and reduce environmental impact. The company raised £100,000 to support its sustainability projects and is pursuing additional fundraising for planned agriculture and forestry projects. Founded in 2018 by three alumnae of Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, Deep Planet is UK-based.
