Dentroid was founded in 2017 by dentist-turned-CEO Omar Zuaiter and robotics engineer Alaa Habeb and is developing Nuralyte, a device that uses pulses of light to induce pain relief in teeth and gums to reduce or remove the need for anaesthetic injections in some dental treatments. The technology has completed stage one and stage two clinical trials with the University of Maryland, the University of Queensland, Griffith University, and the University of Sydney. The company has spent nine years developing the device and has now signed a global licensing deal with Septodont to commercialise Nuralyte. Financially, Dentroid announced a $32 million Series A at a $265 million valuation, with strategic investment participation from Septodont and Michael Gregg. The deal and clinical progress aim to move the product from validation toward broader commercialisation, supported by a corporate partner rather than traditional early-stage Australian VCs. Dentroid faces the usual medtech challenges of regulatory approval and practitioner adoption as it seeks market entry.
