Since its prior fundraise it has advanced its tech to print and build a 2,000-square-foot single-story home and delivered a full-scale 3-bed, 2-bath house in 11 months—four months ahead of schedule—leading to its first contract with a national homebuilder. Diamond Age says its approach can shorten builds that used to take nine months to roughly a month and aims to address labor shortages and U.S. housing supply gaps. The company has doubled in size and plans to add engineering and fabrication talent while partnering with home builders and developers to make production homebuilding more on-demand. The company claims its approach can reduce manual human labor by 55% and cut construction time from nine months to 30 days. Part of the recent funding will be used to build a 1,100-square-foot demonstration house as proof of concept. Diamond Age plans to offer its systems to construction companies through a RaaS (robotics as a service) rental model; pricing specifics have not been disclosed. Co-founder and CEO Jack Oslan said automation is necessary to build high-quality affordable single-family homes for the next generation.
