Digital Infrastructure

CALLE 32 C 66 15, MEDELLIN, Antioquia, Colombia

Overview

Digital Infrastructure publishes DIMO Mobile and builds core components of the DIMO open connected-vehicle network. Its core product, DIMO Mobile, connects to automakers' connected-vehicle services or to hardware devices (AutoPi and the DIMO Macaron) that plug into a car's OBD port to collect private fuel, location, maintenance, and diagnostics data. The company plans to upgrade DIMO Mobile, build direct integrations with automakers, and continue developing hardware such as the AutoPi and Macaron devices. The DIMO network grew 900% last year from 3,000 to more than 33,000 cars; drivers and fleets traveled over 220 million miles across 1,300 vehicle models in the first year. Users can opt into anonymized data sharing to earn DIMO tokens and rewards, and the network reports average annualized savings and rewards of more than $1,250 per connected driver or fleet. The company recently closed an $11.5 million Series A to fund product upgrades, automaker integrations, and hardware development. Digital Infrastructure, Inc. is a NYC-based, user-owned IoT platform focused on building the DIMO network to let owners create verified data streams from devices they own and share them privately. The platform is inspired by Helium, Streamr, IPFS and Ethereum and starts with connected cars. The company plans to open-source its core software, release an SDK for developers, expand hardware supply and support production of additional DIMO-compatible devices, and seed apps and services for target groups like EV manufacturers and electric utilities. Digital Infrastructure also intends to further decentralize governance to include drivers, public and private fleets, and app developers. Since launching App.Dimo.Zone in December 2021 the company has seen over 17,000 vehicles added, demand from over 700 fleets, and dozens of mobility services building on the platform. It has 2,500 DIMO-enabled Data Miners pre-ordered through Shop.Dimo.Zone, with the first units delivered and installed in consumer vehicles, enabling private secure hardware connections and reward access via Mobility Data Unions.
