Digital Retail Apps builds SelfPay, a mobile shopping and self-checkout solution that lets shoppers scan in-store items, build a shopping cart and pay in-app. SelfPay supports multiple payment methods including credit/debit cards, Apple Pay and PayPal. The app integrates with retailers' payments and POS systems, acting as the interface layer between the shopper and retailers' backend processes. Led by CEO and founder Wendy MacKinnon Keith, the company positions SelfPay as a way for shoppers to save time by skipping the checkout line. The startup raised $1m CAD in funding in a round led by Texas Ventures with participation from U.S. angel investors. The company will use the funds to make SelfPay more widely available.
