Overview

Telewound Care Canada is a $3.1M initiative that uses an AI-powered mobile app from Toronto-based Swift Medical to capture and share high-precision wound images from patients’ homes. The project leverages Swift Medical’s Swift Skin and Wound software for wound visualization and touchless 3D measurement, and supports workflows from image capture and automatic risk scoring to assessment scheduling and claims submission. The initiative is supported by the Digital Technology Supercluster, several Canadian health networks, and homecare solution startup AlayaCare, with industry partners co-investing approximately $500,000 alongside the Supercluster. The Digital Technology Supercluster provided $2.5M to accelerate the project, help build partnerships, and expand adoption of AI-powered digital health technologies in Canada. By the summer the project is expected to help over one thousand wound patients in Ontario and Québec, and partners intend to scale it across North America. The effort responds to Wounds Canada’s estimate that 30–50% of healthcare activities involve a wound and to pandemic-related barriers that have made wound care access more difficult.
