Overview
DiviGas has engineered a dual-layer hollow-fiber polymeric membrane with angstrom-scale functional features that separate hydrogen and carbon dioxide without chemical reactants. The membrane operates at temperatures up to 150°C and is resistant to common acidic gases (sulfur and chlorine), permitting use on more caustic, untreated input streams. The design uses an inexpensive inner support polymer and a thin selective outer layer, and can be manufactured on customized spinning lines similar in cost to standard ones. Founders met at SOSV’s HAX incubator; co-founder and CTO Ali Naderi led material development and Andre Lorenceau is co-founder and CEO. DiviGas is building a pilot-scale plant in Melbourne (operational target in March) and aims to scale production from months per demonstration unit to roughly one bundle per week, then to full manufacturing. The company says current units are two-to-three times more expensive today but expect costs to fall with volume; industry demand is high, with prospective customers requesting tens of millions of units.
