These fully biodegradable ingredients allow manufacturers to swap petrochemical superabsorbent polymers that fragment into harmful microplastics with bio-based alternatives that match or exceed conventional performance. Current demand is rising in cosmetics, personal care, and agricultural markets, with the company preparing to supply the large-volume hygiene sector next. Proceeds from its latest financing will significantly expand production at its state-of-the-art Livonia plant, which is targeted to reach full operational capacity by 2028. Management has also begun evaluating additional manufacturing sites to secure long-term global supply. By addressing intensifying regulatory and consumer pressure to eliminate microplastics, Ecovia Bio aims to become the preferred global supplier of γ-PGA and related biopolymers across consumer and industrial applications.
