ekWateur is a Paris-based collaborative greentech founded in 2015 that supplies renewable gas, electricity and wood to households and small professionals. Its model invites customers to participate in customer service and to produce energy at home to approach self-sufficiency. The company positions itself as an alternative to dominant French players and aims to increase transparency and ethical practices in energy. ekWateur has grown to become France’s 5th largest energy supplier, surpassing 200,000 meters nationwide. The startup plans to invest in its lab to develop new products (including a solar kit for the general public), build a new IT infrastructure and create a data-analysis system based on behavioral sciences. It also intends to deepen its collaborative approach by involving customers more in its growth. ekWateur is a Paris-based collaborative energy supplier that offers fully-renewable electricity and natural gas to private individuals. The company launched its service on 13 September 2016 and reached 4,000 counters three and a half months after launch. ekWateur aims to reach 100,000 counters by mid-2018 and 500,000 counters by 2021. It plans to use funding to accelerate growth and develop new IT services and applications. The company intends to expand its team, hiring roughly ten new employees in 2017 for web development and administrative and commercial roles. ekWateur was co-founded in November 2015 by Julien Tchernia and Jonathan Martelli.
