Overview
ElectReon develops a wireless electrification system that charges electric vehicles in full motion via copper coils embedded under the road and receivers installed under vehicles. The system places coils under the middle lane, covered by pavement and powered by an underground system, with charging performed by one or more receivers under the car. ElectReon is running pilot programs in Israel and Sweden with buses and trucks and expects to complete them later this year. The company plans commercial projects including a 10 km shared deployment for public transportation in Tel Aviv and a 25–30 km deployment to charge heavy-duty trucks in Sweden, and has an MoU with German energy company EnBW to demonstrate its technology. It says the funds will be used to extend compatibility beyond buses and heavy-duty trucks to shuttles, taxis, light trucks, vans, and autonomous vehicles and to expand into the US, Italy, France, India, and Latin America. Founded in 2013 and public since late 2017, ElectReon raised USD 50 million in an equity offering.
