Overview
Elevara Medicines is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on creating novel therapeutics for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and related chronic inflammatory conditions. Its lead asset, ELV001, is a potent, selective, first-in-class oral CDK4/6 inhibitor licensed globally from Teijin Pharma after more than a decade of prior research. The drug is being positioned as an add-on treatment for RA patients who have an inadequate response to methotrexate and TNF inhibitors, aiming to reduce cycling among multiple immunosuppressive therapies. Elevara plans to launch the START-SYNERGY Phase 2 trial before the end of 2025, enrolling approximately 180 such patients. Beyond RA, the company is running exploratory programs in additional inflammatory indications and women’s health. The business was co-founded by clinical advisory group Weatherden with backing from Monograph Capital and is led by CEO Emma Tinsley and CMO Professor Dominique Baeten. Governance is supported by a board that includes representatives from Monograph Capital, Forbion, Sofinnova Partners and an independent director. Elevara recently secured $70 million in Series A funding to finance the Phase 2 trial and advance its broader pipeline.
