ELIX develops wireless charging systems for electric vehicles, including the E8K and planned 8,000W, 4,000W and 1,000W chargers. The company signed a strategic collaboration with Chongqing Zongshen Power Machinery Co Ltd of the Zongshen Group and will move manufacturing to China. ELIX plans to finalize development of the E8K and scale production to achieve mass availability of its chargers by the end of 2017, specifically to serve Tesla Model 3 owners. The company received a $5 million A‑Round investment to finalize product development and to strengthen engineering and supply‑chain hires. ELIX’s CEO said Zongshen brings manufacturing and engineering expertise that will allow faster market entry. Zongshen’s founder said the group invested to stay at the forefront of transportation as China shifts toward electrification and expects wide adoption of the technology.
