EM3 operates a farming-as-a-service (Faas) platform that enables owners of tractors, harvesters and other implements to rent out equipment to small, remote farmers on hourly or acreage pricing. The company is tech-enabled rather than purely app-based: it runs call centers and local field representatives to serve largely offline customers, while offering apps where appropriate. EM3 says it has worked with about 8,000 farms through 10 service centers, and has partnered with the Rajasthan government to expand reach. Founded in 2013 by Rohtash Mal and his son Adwitiya Mal (CEO), the team draws on Rohtash’s prior experience in agricultural machinery. The startup plans to expand into more regions, increase inventory, develop its tech and broaden its menu of services into adjacent farmer needs. Competition includes Gold Farm and Trringo (a Mahindra & Mahindra subsidiary). EM3 AgriServices is a Delhi-based company that provides pay-per-use agricultural machines and services to small-hold farmers. It operates a pay-for-use model and delivers a suite of basic and precision agri operations from soil to the farm gate under the Samadhan brand through its service centres. The company had been operating in Madhya Pradesh for over a year. With Aspada's investment, EM3 will create a pan-India network of service centres and invest in team building. The company also plans to strengthen its technology platform and enhance soil and chemistry research. Aspada described EM3's model as Farming-as-a-Service and said it could become India's first organised small-hold agricultural services platform at scale.
