Overview
Embibe is an education platform that leverages data analytics and AI stacks focused on content intelligence, automation, behavioural recommendations, and student intelligence to deliver personalised learning for students and teachers. The company’s products aim to redefine how edtech impacts student outcomes through tailored recommendations and content. Embibe has expanded via strategic investments and acquisitions, including a December 2019 purchase of equity in K12 startup Funtoot (90.5% stake for Rs 71.64 crore). Financially, Embibe has been significantly backed by Reliance Industries through multiple rounds of funding. Most recently Reliance subscribed to Rs 500 crore in cumulative compulsorily convertible preference shares, and earlier this year provided Rs 89.91 crore; Reliance previously invested the rupee-equivalent of $180 million between 2015–2018. The Reliance investment has been presented as part of a broader commitment to growing education technology and expanding access to schools and universities. Embibe (operating as Individual Learning Pvt Ltd) runs an online test-prep portal focused on engineering entrance exams such as JEE, BITSAT, AIPMT, CET and AIIMS. The platform combines technology, analytics and content to deliver timed practice, hints, tips and video solutions aimed at performance improvement. The site reports more than 300,000 students have appeared for its question papers and around 100,000 hints/tips/video solutions have been viewed; it currently has 15,000 students on board. Pricing for courses varies between Rs 12,000 and Rs 16,000. The company plans to add medical-prep tests and expand into emerging markets such as China over the next two years. Founded by Aditi Avasthi in 2012, Embibe emphasizes research around performance improvement to deepen student outcomes.
