enCaps develops a secure "capsule" technology and an augmented QR code that can point to product passports stored on a traditional database or on a blockchain, with role-based access to different information. The company’s proprietary QR code adds an undisclosed encryption layer to secure decoding and enable traceability, authenticity checks and proof of ownership. enCaps positions its solution as a preparatory response to the EU’s forthcoming Digital Product Passport regulation (potentially effective from 2026) while already addressing use cases such as stolen-bike tracing, secure game-key distribution and vehicle maintenance records. Early customers include Bee-cycle and an unnamed major automotive actor; the startup is also building Point Nexus, a platform for game-key distribution with partner Plug In Digital. The startup targets four priority markets: mobility (bikes and cars), luxury, art and video games. enCaps was founded in spring 2022 and is based in Montpellier. Financially, it has just closed a €1.6M financing round that will fund hires, global infrastructure and product rollout.
