Overview
EnerG2 produces carbon-based ‘‘black powder’’ materials that serve as ingredients for energy storage devices such as lead-acid batteries, ultracapacitors and lithium-ion batteries. The company spun out of the University of Washington with technology developed by Aaron Feaver and is described as nine years old. Earlier this year it opened a manufacturing facility in Albany, Oregon and is working with about 60 global partners on its technology. EnerG2 has received backing from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Washington State Energy Program as well as multiple venture and angel investors. The firm recently added former GM executive Bob Lutz to its board. Management says the new funds will support continued customer work and help grow the company’s manufacturing base. The article does not disclose revenues or other operating metrics.
