Enertechnos is a UK clean energy technology company that developed a cable technology called the Capacitive Transfer System (CTS) to reduce transmission and distribution energy losses. CTS reduces waste by up to 47%, allows generators and networks to deliver more power to consumers, and is compatible with traditional cabling while being manufacturable using conventional machinery with minimal adaptation. The technology also uses less carbon-intensive copper, lowering project CO2 capex, and could materially cut UK carbon emissions tied to grid losses. Enertechnos plans to expand its engineering team to drive R&D and boost commercial sales and marketing to accelerate global rollout of CTS. The company has received backing from several government programmes and is working with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on electric vehicle charging times; CTS will be trialed by Western Power Distribution. Financially, Enertechnos completed a £5 million Series A in May 2020 with 30% from existing investors and the remainder from individual investors including energy and engineering sector specialists and former cabinet minister Virginia Bottomley.
