Engageli has built a video-first online teaching platform from the ground up tailored to higher-education courses. The product includes built-in video technology, virtual "tables" for small-group collaboration, tools to share and annotate lecture notes, in-class quizzes and Q&A channels to boost engagement. The company says its focus is on synchronous experiences while expanding into multi-modality and on-demand features. Engageli is targeting colleges and universities and is working to scale the platform and open it to more schools. The startup is not disclosing engagement, customer or user metrics, though it reports university customers across the U.S., U.K. and Israel and classes that can handle up to "hundreds" of concurrent students. Recent funding will be used to build more tools and scale the platform. Engageli is a video-first digital learning platform built specifically for remote classroom instruction. The company is launching in pilot mode with an initial focus on higher education, which the founders see as likely to blend more online learning going forward. Engageli came out of stealth having raised seed financing to support that pilot and product rollout.
