Overview
enGene Holdings focuses on creating non-viral genetic medicines that can be administered locally to elicit targeted therapeutic responses. Its lead candidate, detalimogene voraplasmid, is designed for intravesical delivery to generate a localized anti-tumor immune response in patients with high-risk, BCG-unresponsive NMIBC, including carcinoma in situ. The therapy has secured FDA Fast Track and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy designations and is being assessed in the Phase 2 LEGEND trial, whose pivotal cohort enrolls 125 patients and is intended to support a future Biologics License Application (BLA). The company plans to submit that BLA in the second half of 2026 and is targeting a potential U.S. commercial launch in 2027, contingent on approval. In parallel, additional LEGEND cohorts are studying BCG-naïve patients, partially treated BCG patients, and papillary-only disease across sites in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Financially, enGene has bolstered its balance sheet with an expanded Hercules Capital debt facility, providing up to $125 million of non-dilutive capital that extends debt maturity to 2030. The first $25 million was drawn immediately to refinance existing obligations, and further tranches are milestone-dependent, giving the company runway through clinical, regulatory, and early commercial milestones. This financing flexibility is intended to carry enGene through its pivotal trial readouts, regulatory submission, and initial commercialization preparations for detalimogene.
