Enigma Technologies

217 Centre Street, Suite 124, New York, 10013, United States

Overview

Enigma provides a SaaS platform that enables organizations to utilize internal data and leverage signals from real-world public data. The company has built a vast knowledge bank of people, places, and companies to create a unique map of the world for individuals and enterprises. Enigma has built data-rich workflows for financial risk management, compliance, pharmaceuticals, and sales and marketing use cases. Customers include BB&T, EMD Millipore, Celgene and Merck. Led by co-founder and CEO Hicham Oudghiri, the company plans to use the new capital to expand its network and platform, focusing on risk, procurement and fraud. Enigma was the winner of TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2013 and a graduate of the 2014 FinTech Innovation Lab. Founded in 2011, Enigma collects and organizes vast public-data sets and offers tools for discovery, search and analytics. Its core enterprise products are the Abstract platform, which unifies internal data silos, and the Signals analytics engine, which combines public and private data to deliver insights. The company has shifted focus to serve large enterprises and Fortune 500 operational challenges, while continuing to offer public-data access for individuals and developers. Enigma cites Merck as a current customer using Abstract, Signals and Public Data to improve global manufacturing operations. The company will use new funding to expand its enterprise offerings and build its core team with data-driven talent. Enigma also plans to continue growing its integrated public-data corpus produced by governments, universities, companies and other organizations. Enigma aggregates and indexes public data across disparate datasets, offering a central interface and API to discover connections in billions of public records. Its coverage includes import bills of lading, real estate assessments, FCC licenses, SEC filings, and government spending contracts. The company launched to the public in May 2013 after winning TechCrunch Disrupt and targets financial institutions, news media, academia, and professional services. Enigma is available as a subscription service and as an API for big data analytics. It has partnerships with Harvard Business School, Gerson Lehrman Group, and S&P Capital IQ. Company leadership and investors have described plans to extend the platform into additional industries. Enigma aggregates and structures more than 100,000 public and proprietary datasets across government, real estate, and finance sources. Its product decouples data from obscure sources into a relational database and an Enigma dashboard that enables searching, comparing, and trend analysis across datasets. The company is still in beta and the platform supports use cases such as defense-spending trend analysis, real estate market comparisons, and other analyses for media, finance, consulting, legal, and academic customers. Enigma aims to grow its user base significantly given its broad dataset coverage. To support that growth, the company has raised seed funding and will use the capital to expand adoption and product development. Investors in the round include TriplePoint Capital, Crosslink Capital, Brent Hurley, Take Two chairman Strauss Zelnick, and Colbeck Capital partner Matthew Glass.
