enModus develops Wattwave, a low-cost powerline communications protocol designed to embed connectivity in appliances and buildings for long-range, robust low-bitrate monitoring and control. The company positions Wattwave as an alternative to wireless standards such as Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth for applications that require reliable connectivity regardless of device location. Founded in 2010 and based in Chepstow, Wales, enModus plans to commercialize Wattwave and expand supported applications. The recent funding will enable a market launch and further optimisation and cost reduction of the technology. enModus has relocated to larger premises in Chepstow to accommodate planned growth of its engineering and commercial teams and is supported by a DECC Energy Entrepreneurs Fund grant to accelerate its roadmap.
