Overview
Ennesys SAS develops environmental energy systems for sustainable buildings, proposing to feed algae with sanitized wastewater and use the biomass to generate energy onsite. The company was launched with help from OriginOil in 2011 to target France’s RT 2020 positive-energy building requirement. Ennesys immediately began working with large builders such as Global 500 firm Bouygues. OriginOil has provided algae-harvesting and water-sanitizing equipment, technical expertise, and transferred three non-core patents to Ennesys on preferential terms. The company has exhibited at the International Water Summit in Abu Dhabi and received public praise from French President François Hollande. Recently Ennesys closed a funding round of €300,000 through WiCap Ennesys at a pre-money valuation of about $6 million, a raise that multiplied OriginOil’s seed investment in the joint venture by thirty times. Founders named in the announcement include Pierre Tauzinat, Christine Grimault and Jean-Louis Kindler.
