Envia Systems develops patented lithium-ion cathode technology designed to deliver high energy capacity, improved safety, and extended life. The company supplies advanced cathode materials and aims to provide systems to manufacturers developing electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Leadership is led by Atul Kapadia, founding investor, chairman and CEO. Envia completed a $17M equity financing in which General Motors Ventures LLC committed $7M. Asahi Kasei and Asahi Glass participated alongside existing investors Bay Partners, Redpoint and Panagea Ventures. Under the financing terms GM’s battery engineering team will have access to Envia’s advanced lithium-ion cathode technology.
