Enviroo is developing an 81,000 sq ft PET recycling facility at Peel NRE’s Protos site near Ellesmere Port to produce rPET suitable for food-grade packaging. The company confirmed it has secured £58 million in funding to build the planned plant. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with operations scheduled to start in 2027. The facility will process up to 35,000 tonnes of plastics annually and is projected to create more than 80 direct jobs. Enviroo worked with Recoup to validate market trends and recycling policy, and the assessment was presented to funders to support the project’s commercial and environmental case. The project positions Enviroo to strengthen domestic PET recycling infrastructure and address growing demand for food‑grade rPET.
