Overview
Envisia Therapeutics is a Research Triangle Park-based clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing novel extended-release therapies in ophthalmology. Its lead candidate, ENV515, is a biodegradable formulation of the prostaglandin analog travoprost designed to lower intraocular pressure for more than six months from a single dose. ENV515 is in phase 2 testing, with enrollment completed in the second cohort and safety and efficacy data expected in May 2016; a high-dose cohort was expected to enter clinical testing in mid-2016. The company also pursues programs in diabetic macular edema (ENV1105) and age-related macular degeneration. ENV1105 is an intravitreal biodegradable dexamethasone formulation with a six-month minimum duration of action and completed a pre-IND meeting with the FDA in Q1 2016. Envisia plans to use new funds to continue ENV515's clinical evaluation through phase 2 and to advance two other pipeline products through key data milestones. Envisia focuses on addressing unmet medical needs across ophthalmology by leveraging Liquidia’s PRINT® (Particle Replication In Non‑Wetting Templates) technology to design particle‑based ocular therapeutics. Its lead product, ENV515, is an extended‑release formulation of a prostaglandin analogue intended to provide a sustained reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP) for glaucoma patients after a single administration. The company is building a pipeline of small‑ and large‑molecule particle formulations and has assembled an ophthalmology research and development team to advance those programs. Envisia was formed by Liquidia Technologies in 2013 and is located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The company is privately held and announced a $25 million Series A financing to support advancement of ENV515 and follow‑on programs. Neal Fowler and his leadership team will continue to lead both Envisia and Liquidia.
