Epec Biofuels Holdings positions itself as the Ethanol 2.0TM industry integration platform to bring to commercial reality the complete supply chain for production, distribution, and utilization of ethanol from sweet sorghum. The company is pursuing sweet sorghum as a sugar-rich feedstock and aims to build an industry akin to Brazil's sugarcane program. In late 2011 Epec undertook a management restructuring that brought ethanol industry pioneer Ron Miller in as CEO/President and Co-Vice Chairman, made Steve Vanechanos Executive Chairman, appointed Jim Hyde Co-Vice Chairman, and named Dr. Danielle Bellmer Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board. Management decided to become more active in supply chain development, identifying critical supply chain participants and forging strategic supply chain partnerships which may include investments and acquisition of proprietary technology. Financially, Epec announced a $1 million equity investment by InterCore Energy as part of a larger approximately $1.25 million financing plan to advance Ethanol 2.0 toward commercial reality. The company says these steps are intended to provide leadership, management, and capital access across the emerging supply chain and guide it to commercial fruition.
