Episona, Inc.

69 N Catalina Ave, Pasadena, CA, 91106, United States

Overview

Episona develops epigenetic tests aimed at improving reproductive health outcomes. Founded in 2013 by CEO Alan Horsager, PhD and based in Pasadena, Calif., its first product, Seed, evaluates epigenetic changes on DNA to predict male factor infertility and poor embryo quality. Seed is a physician-ordered test that can be used at home or in a fertility clinic to assess male factor risk and help guide decisions between less invasive procedures such as IUI and IVF. By analyzing sperm’s role in embryo development, Seed can help identify problems that might occur with IVF and provide insight after failed IVF cycles or when choosing donors. As of the report, Seed was available in approximately two dozen fertility clinics across 12 states and Canada. The company intends to use the recent funding to increase sales and marketing and for further technology development.
