Ermium Therapeutics is a discovery-stage company developing orally available small molecules that target the CXCR4 chemokine receptor via a novel mechanism to abolish type I interferon and other key inflammatory cytokine release. Its lead program is aimed at type I interferon-mediated diseases including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), dermatomyositis, Sjögren syndrome and monogenic interferonopathies. The company holds a worldwide exclusive license on intellectual property from the CNRS and Université Paris Cité via an agreement with Erganeo. Ermium is based at the Paris Biotech Santé Incubator – Accelerator at Cochin Hospital and is led by CEO Joël Crouzet. The company was founded in June 2019 by Dr Jean-Philippe Herbeuval alongside Kurma Partners, Domain Therapeutics and Erganeo. Financially, Ermium raised €6.3M in the reported round, bringing total funding to date to €12.3M. The new funds will be used to reach drug candidate selection, extend the non-clinical development package, and advance the pharmacological package to support early clinical development in SLE and other autoimmune indications.
