Overview
Erthos is a Tempe, AZ–based utility-scale solar company led by Charles Pimentel, President and CCO. The company offers solutions designed to reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) for utility-scale solar power plants, including its Earth Mount Solar® PV systems. Erthos recently acquired a 34‑MW project portfolio spanning five US states and secured a contract for a 180‑MW project in Mississippi. It has introduced an investment‑grade performance guarantee for its Earth Mount Solar® PV systems. The company raised an additional $24M in equity financing announced September 11, 2023. Erthos intends to use the funds to accelerate growth, address a surge in demand, and support upcoming large-scale projects. Erthos, led by CEO Jim Tyler, develops technology for utility-scale solar including its Earth Mount Solar™ PV system. The Earth Mount approach eliminates structural steel by installing solar modules directly on the earth. The company also built an autonomous cleaning robot that sweeps arrays nightly and captures module-level DC health data. Erthos says Earth Mount Solar PV can be built for less cost, in half the time, and on one third the land. The company plans to use Series B proceeds to double headcount and advance product development in robotic cleaning, system analytics, and modeling software. Erthos has over 2.5 gigawatts of active project pipeline and previously raised $7.4M in a 2019 Series A.
