Esper Satellite Imagery
5A Hartnett Cl, Mulgrave, Victoria, 3170, Australia
Overview
Esper builds hyperspectral imaging satellites and accompanying proprietary software to read and interpret spectral imagery. The company keeps hardware costs low by using off-the-shelf components and consumer-level electronics, relying on software to ensure data accuracy. Its first demonstration satellite, part of a mission called Over the Rainbow, launched on SpaceX’s Transporter-10 to validate a spectrometer system and software. Esper has traction with prospective customers in the mining sector and disaster-response firms and has engaged U.S. government agencies through Techstars connections. The company was founded in early 2021 by Shoaib Iqbal and Joey Lorenczak in Melbourne. Esper plans a second demonstrator with ISRO later this spring and aims to begin commercial payload launches by late next year or early 2026, targeting an 18-satellite constellation for daily revisit by 2028.
