Send Anywhere is a free peer-to-peer file-transfer service available via web, browser extension, mobile and desktop apps, and a WordPress plugin. The service emphasizes security with passcode/QR-locked transfers, a 10-minute download window, a 24-hour upload-and-share option, and no file-size cap. It does not store files during transfers (except the upload/share option) and requires both parties to be online for P2P transfers. The company reports 1.5 million monthly active devices and 5 million app downloads to date, with Korea, the U.S., Japan, India and the U.K. among its top markets. ESTmob was spun off in 2012 from ESTsoft and is based in Seoul. The company raised a $1 million seed round led by SaeMin Ahn of Rakuten Ventures. Its next major update is planned remote access for registered devices to create a user experience closer to services like Dropbox while still bypassing cloud servers.
