ETCH develops a process that eliminates carbon from natural gas to produce both clean hydrogen and solid carbon. Its ETCH ProcessTM, formulated in the labs of Johns Hopkins University and a recipient of a competitive DOE ARPA‑E grant, can convert nearly 100% of natural gas input into hydrogen and solid carbon regardless of scale. The technology uses a modular design that requires minimal maintenance. ETCH sources earth‑abundant materials that can be obtained domestically to reduce supply‑chain disruption and enhance energy security. The company raised $7.5M in Seed funding from Emerald Development Managers and intends to use the proceeds to begin commercialization of its products.
