Overview

Etergo builds the AppScooter, an app-centric electric scooter with a 7‑inch LED touchscreen that runs Android apps and integrates GPS, 4G connectivity, and handlebar controls for calls and music. The scooter offers a claimed 240 km range, 50 L of storage and can accelerate to 45 km/h in under four seconds. AppScooter includes electronically controlled locks and is designed to minimize rider distraction through its integrated cockpit. The company says the AppScooter will be designed and built in the Netherlands and is slated to launch in early 2020. Financially, Etergo has raised approximately €21.3M to date, including a recent crowdfunding round that brought in roughly €4M from private investors. Investors in the crowdfunding round become shareholders, though those shares are not yet tradable on a public stock exchange. Etergo develops the AppScooter, a modular-battery, high‑connectivity urban electric scooter designed for utility and city commuting. The AppScooter is claimed to offer up to 240 km range, accelerate 0–45 km/h in 3.9s, and includes a 7‑inch touchscreen with internet and Bluetooth handlebar controls. The 74 kg scooter can carry up to three 7.5 kg banana‑shaped batteries under the floorboard while preserving a 60 L cargo compartment. Etergo is in the final stages of production planning, having narrowed potential manufacturers to three after touring 60 factories and is negotiating contracts. The company plans to begin deliveries in the second half of 2019, initially in the Netherlands and Germany and then in other countries, using specialized vans for delivery and mobile service. Financially, Etergo recently closed a €10M investment and previously raised €5M via crowdfunding; early production batches have largely sold out across several European markets.
