Overview

Etherfuse is a Mexican protocol that tokenizes debt from emerging markets, creating tokens that are backed one-for-one by the underlying bonds. The company provides its own custody and enables free trading of those tokenized assets, allowing users with a mobile device and a crypto wallet to access Mexican and other emerging-market debt. Fuse Capital announced an investment through its recently launched second blockchain-focused fund; the specific amount from Fuse was not disclosed but the investment is part of a US$3 million seed round led by White Star Capital and North Island Ventures. Other named participants in the round include Stellar, FunFair Ventures and Department of XYZ, among others. Etherfuse positions tokenized bonds as stable, yield-bearing assets suitable as collateral or backing within DeFi, and plans to make more than 3,500 tokenized assets available in the next 18 months, including short-term government debt and other exchange-traded Mexican assets. The company is targeting Brazil as a market and is partnering with Fuse to navigate legal, business and market-entry challenges there.
