Ethnocare, founded in 2020 in Quebec City, develops the Overlay — a breathable, air-expansion prosthetic device that users can adjust through clothing for a personalized fit. The Overlay is compatible with most existing prosthetic equipment, has U.S. and international patent filings, and was inspired by sports technology. Since entering the market in early 2023, Ethnocare has signed distribution agreements with OrtoPed and BMI to accelerate Canadian commercialization. The company is developing the U.S., South American, and European markets and plans future product developments that will add digital and connected features. Ethnocare has received numerous grants and today closed a $2.5M seed round to fund commercialization of its first product and continued development of next-generation orthopedic solutions. Angel investor Bernard Poitras has joined the board as chair, supporting the company’s commercialization push.
