eureQa builds test automation software and uses an offshore development model to deliver its product. The cofounders manage product, engineering management, and sales from a Cherry Hill, N.J. office while the bulk of engineering staff work from Hyderabad, India. The team comprises three U.S.-based employees (the two cofounders and a project manager) and 55 employees in India, and the company shares staff with Tripod Technologies, an outsourced software development firm run by the same team. Gabriel Investments invested $600,000 in eureQa’s seed round, and Sashi Reddi of Gabriel Investments will join eureQa’s board. With the new funds, eureQa plans to grow its Indian development team by about 20 and expand its U.S. office by about three, hiring for sales and marketing roles. The founders said the offshore approach was driven by customer demand for offshore development and existing team capabilities in India.
